I think that Frederick Douglass was considered a leader because of his help on segregation, such as helping other saves to read illegally. One thing that surprised me is that he ran away from his master and then changed his last name so they couldn't catch him! That was smart.

Have you ever wondered how people of the past can have a tremendous impact on the future? In the videos, “Fredrick Douglas; a Civil Rights Activist” and “Rosa Parks and The Montgomery Bus Boycott”, both main historic figures did many things to change laws and rights.

Frederick Douglas was considered a leader and catalyst because he knew that teaching slaves how to read would have consequences. Along with that, once he escaped slavery he didn't hide in fear, instead he did as much as he could to abolish it. When he came back from Great Britan and moved to Rochester, New York he decided that he would help stop segregation in Rochester schools

I think Fredrick Douglas was considered a leader for being a good man. Instead of risking he would go back to slavery, he kept fighting for what he knew was right. He also tried to help by writing news papers, an auto biography and making powerful speeches.

Fredrick Douglass is considered a leader and catalyst for positive change. We think of him like this because he was a power abolitionist, who worked against slavery and helped slaves, even though he knew there would be major punishments towards him if he found out. When he escaped slavery, instead of hiding so he wouldn't be held captive again, he fought against it out in the open. He worked for ending segregation, publicly and in schools. He is known as leader of fighting against slavery and racism. He spoke out at places, trying to convince many that slavery was wrong. He knew that could get him hurt, or even killed but he kept going, fighting for right rather then hiding in the wrong.

Frederick Douglas is considered a leader and a catalyst because he helped other slaves. He helped other slaves by learning to read even thought he knew it was against the law. He was also a abolitionist, someone who stands up against slavery. Overall, Frederick Douglas was a great leader who helped us with the way our world looks today.

Fredrick Douglass was considered a leader because even when he was still a slave he taught himself and other slaves to read. It also said he was an abolitionist a person who didn't like slavery. He ran away instead of hiding he wrote a biography and wrote a newspaper. He was an excellent speaker and inspired a lot of people. He also helped with the civil war by talking to the president. He was an outspoken speaker he helped end segregation. He will always be a considered a leader to me.

i think Fredrick douglas was considered a leader because he taught himslef to read and than he taught other slaves to read even though he would get beaten for it. after he escaped slavery he met a group of abolistionists. he became one. he was asked to speak about racism and slavery. after that he went all around the world to speak about racism and slavery. President Lincoln was the president when Fredrick was alive so he spoke out to him to get weapons so black people could help fight in war. Fredrick also spoke out to President Lincoln about slavery. in the end Lincoln signed the ammancipation proclimation so slavery should end.

Fredrick Douglas was a leader because he was teaching other slaves. Although he was born as a slave and he never got to see his dad and his mom and him got separated. It is nice how he sought freedom in the north.

He was a leader because he was brave, courageous, and sacrificed many things for others. He was brave because it takes a lot of courage to escape and run to the North. Also, he was brave because he admitted that he did many illegal things in a book almost anyone could read. I think he is courageous because he had the courage to speak in front of all those people, and he spoke directly from his heart. I think he sacrificed because although he knew what would happen, he still taught other slaves to read. Even though he got caught, he did not regret the act of doing something for fellow slaves. Also, he sacrificed getting in trouble so that people would hear his story in his book. That are all the traits a true leader and hero has. Frederick Douglas was amazing, and a true leader.

I noticed that we always talk about Rosa Parks and MLKJ but we don't talk about many other that did just as good things. What separates these people? History simply decided that one is more inportant than the other. Any ways I am glade that we get to learn about Fredrick and his story. They bring up a good point about how hard our lives would be without reading. I knew that he learned to read but I had o idea that he taught others to read. And why are blacks less superior? Anthor thing history decided, what if it was the other way around? What if it was flipped? Think how different our lives would be for people of all races? Funny how some things are completely random isn't it?

I think he was a very big positive change to the world because first of all he was an abolitionist an abolitionist is someone who did not like slavery and wanted it to end. The reason Frederick was a slave was because of his race and that was really bad. What was also bad for frederick douglass was that he was not aloud to even know how to read because you werent aloud to teach slaves how to read because they could have taken advantage of it and that was really bad because then he wasnt aloud to do much things because of one thing which was his race. The good part was that Frederick was an abolitionist so he stood up to slavery. What was really sad was that Frederick was seperated by his own family because he was a slave and they had diffrent slave owners. ( i couldnt end this)

I learned how Douglass was a great leader and how he became so famous. First, he was a slave, then he got out and met other people who wanted to end slaves, and worked on how to get the slavery out. People should follow his steps and be able to do the things in their life.

He was a leader because of many reasons like when the masters wife taught him to read, he taught other slaves so they could understand as well that is a sigh of leadership. Also when he came to the North ho spoke against slavery and was very brave, along with all the talks he had many people agreed and applauded what he did. Frederick Douglass was a very brave and important person in history and people still talk about him and what he did in the world today.

This video tells of how Fredrick Douglas was a great catalyst of civil rights and freedom for African American people. he was considered a catalyst of civil rights because of his great ability to speak against it. He always was very outspoken and tried everything he could to stop slavery. Him becoming an abolitionist was a prime example of this. This shows he was very determined to stop the injustice against African-American people. Another detail was that Fredrick Douglass stood up to the beatings that his master dished out. This is actually a literal and figurative example of him being a catalyst of civil rights and justice for all. The literal part is that he stood up and showed no fear, but the other example, the figurative part was: Catalyst means that you fight back and refuse to stand down and take the brutality. All these details show me that Frederick Douglass Is a catalyst of change and hope for African-Americans of his time. Subsequently, Fredrick Douglass was a great civil rights leader.

Douglass was seen as a leader, because he became a speaker and was able to convince many people --especially white people, that enslaving people was wrong, he was seen as a catalyst for positive change because he was one of the first if not the first to start speaking openly and in public against slavery, and he was also very successful. He was able to convince many to stop slavery, and that slavery was wrong. His speeches were captivating, powerful, and made many people know how bad enslaving African Americans is.

Fredrick Douglas was born a slave and is known as one of the best civil rights activists ever. Fredrick Douglas didnt even know his father and got split apart from his mother. Fredrick Douglas moved around all over in his early life. Teaching slaves to read was a law back then. Fredrick could not be stopped and learned to read by himself. Fredrick got in trouble because he taught other slaves how to read. When he master found out he would get beat up by his master. Fredrick was not afraid and stood up to the beatings. Fredrick got the papers and head out north. When he arrived he saw other people that were against slavery. Fredrick was a great speaker and spoke against slavery. Fredrick later made a biography about his life. Fredrick's biography got him in danger. Fredrick was afraid that his master would read the book and come capture him and take him back to being a slave. Fredrick earned enough money to "buy" his freedom. Fredrick spoke during the civil war which made an impact on the civil war. Also Fredrick got to speak to Abraham Lincoln and was able to convince.

I just want to add to my earlier response: So usually people think of a hero and leader as superman or spiderman, but there are so many other leaders who may not be able to fly or jump from building to building, but they have the traits any other hero has. For example, people like superman because he saved people from villains. Frederick Douglass helped save slaves from cruel masters which in my opinion are the worst types of villains. Also, people like spiderman because things were really hard in his life but he still saved everyone else from evil. Frederick had a difficult life as well, being separated from his family at a young age, yet he still did many things worth celebrating in life. And people like how superheroes sacrifice themselves. Frederick taught other slaves to read even though he knew the punishment. What better superhero could you think of?
