I never knew that about volcanoes and these games really help me to know about volcanoes and what happens when you change the pressure of a volcano to see how a volcano can act.

Wow, I can't believe that only 30 present of Pompeii was damaged from this active volcano when over 2,000 people died. Volcano can be so dangerous and can damage so much in a little bit of time.

Volcano Vesuvius had not erupted for 1,800 then it erupted, but the people of Pompeii did not know that

Wow! Volcanoes are disastrous. There was a giant volcano that spread in Pompeii, yet it only killed 13% of the population. Volcano comes from the word Vulcan, which means the roman god of Flame and Metal Forgery. Mount Vesuvius is an estimated 17,000 years old and has erupted more than 50 times. I wonder how much lava and debris is that collectively. The ruins of Pompeii are visited by over 2.6 million people per year. The pyroclastic (a fast-moving current of hot gas and volcanic matter that moves away from a volcano) flows from the eruption can move at 450mph or 724 kmph with temperatures reaching as high as 1,830°F or 999°C. Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD overed the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. It spewed 1.5 million tons of lava per second. Pompeii was buried under 14 to 17 feet of ash and pumice.

The volcano hadn't erupted since 1,800 from the time it erupted. 2,000 people died. Volcano soil from earlier eruptions of the volcano created prime farmland for grapes and olive trees.

The Mount Vevius volcano happened just over noon on August 24th 1994. Pompeii was found in 1748 when workers started to build a palace for King Charles III. The word “Volcano” comes from the Roman god of Flame and Metal Foregy Vulcan. Mount Vevuis had erupted 50 times before 1944. 2.6 million people visit the Ruins of Pompeii each year. During the eruption 1.5 millions tons of lava spewed through Pompeii and Herculaneum. Mount Vevuis was 1,281 meters high and is 17,000 years old. The Mount Vevuis Volcano was one of the most dangerous Volcanoes in the world! It was also the only active Volcano on Mainland Europe. Mount Vevuis erupted six times in the 18th century, eight times in the 19th century and in 1906, 1929, and the big one in 1944. It has not erupted again since 1944. Ancient Rome is well known for producing its own fish sauce in a town called Garum. The eruption lasted more then 24 hours. Nobody attempted to rebuild Pompeii after the eruption. Personally I don’t blame them because Pompeii is covered in 14-17 feet of ash. If the eruption had erupted one day before or after the day it erupted Pompeii would have a better chance of escaping. This would happen because on a normal day the wind would would travel southwestern towards Bay Naples. Unfortunately on the day of the eruption the wind was blowing northwestern towards Pompeii. The eruption took place in the time of World War II. The volcano destroyed a U.S bomber plane only a few kilometers away from the eruption. At least the people of Pompeii didn’t get bombed too. The volcano did give them one benefit in the end. People lived the most closest to the volcano than any other volcano in the world. Pompeii is the worlds largest excavation and archaeologist site. Before the eruption Pompeii was a wonderful place for the wealthy Roman people to go on holidays. Houses in Pompeii were older than America.

Wow! it is interesting that still 1/3 is still covered in ashes and that it was such a devistating volcano. It is also crazy how the volcano left 12 ft of ash, basically putting the city in a time capsule

I watched many of the Pompeii videos. They are really cool. Personally, I liked two the best. The first was the one we watched in class. It made me sad to see the citizens dead bodies that looked like they were covered in cement. It's also hard to believe that Pompeii was completely erased from the map. The temperatures of the lava was over 1,000 degrees fahrenheit, traveling at 70 miles per hour. There was also poisonous gas. If you weren't killed by the heat, you would be killed by the gas. Another video said that if you weren't killed by the poisonous gas, you would be killed by suffocating. It also said that you could test how it would be like living in those conditions, you could stick your head in dry cement and see how long you could live. Wow! My second favorite video was the cult of the dead video. It was talking about how people were taking unlabeled skeletons and praying to them hoping that the dead would give them something in return. One skeleton was a girl who died a few days after her wedding. Girls would pray to her to hope for a good marriage and a good husband. Then, their praying was taken away and people were banned from going down to those praying sanctuaries. now, tourists and visitors can go see those praying sanctuaries. That would be really cool! (Also, the volcano explosion game wasn't working for me, it just showed me a black screen).

While we were discussing about volcanoes, Jake talked about the Krakatoa eruption. I found a video about the biggest volcanoes (Jake watched it). The channel also has biggest tornadoes and biggest hurricanes.

A volcano is a mountain that has a gigantic ocean of magma below the surface of the earth. When pressure builds up, eruptions occur. In an eruption, gases and rock shoot up through the opening and spill over or fill the air with ash (toxic substances). Eruptions can cause lava flows, hot ash flows, mudslides, avalanches, falling ash (that buried the city of Pompeii) and floods. The danger area around a volcano covers about a 20-mile radius. Volcanic ash can be harsh, acidic, gritty, glassy and smelly. The ash can cause damage to the lungs of older people, babies and people with respiratory problems. An erupting volcano can trigger stupendous tsunamis, floods, earthquakes, mud flows and rockfalls. More than 80% of the earth's surface is volcanic in Origin. The sea floor and some mountains were formed by lots and lots of volcanic eruptions. In the Precambrian era, gaseous emissions from volcano formed the earth's atmosphere by giving it water vapor (H2O), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrochloric acid (HCl), methane (CH4), ammonia (NH3), nitrogen (N2), and sulfur gases. There are more than 500 active volcanoes in the world. More than half of these volcanoes are part of the "Ring of Fire," a region that encircles the Pacific Ocean. Active volcanoes in the U.S. are found mainly in Hawaii, Alaska, California, Oregon and Washington, but the greatest chance of eruptions near areas where many people live is in Hawaii and Alaska. The sound of an eruption volcano can be quiet and hissing or explosive and booming (like the Krakatoa eruption that sound boomed up to 310 DB). The loud cracks travel hundreds of miles and do the most damage, including hearing loss and broken glass. The most deadly eruptions have occurred in Indonesia, with tens of thousands of lives lost to starvation, tsunami (as a result of the eruption), ash flows, and mud flows.

This app is so cool it tells anyone create their very one volcano and lets them create their own explosion. When I was testing this game I felt like this was my job because people have see if the volcanoes will explode in what direction to keep people safe.

I had so much fun making these explosions once I tried to max out everything and see what would happen and it made the largest explosion ever.
