I learned that the "Mayan Underworld" was found by a diver near the beach resort in the Yucatan Peninsula. The diver found a long-sought connection point between the Sac Actun cave system and the Dos Ojos system confirming that they were one. Together they form the longest underwater cave system in the world at 216 miles. I also learned that people might be able to take a trip to mars by the 2030s. Astronauts head to the International Space Station (ISS) which orbits earth 237 miles above earth.

Humans on Mars, is it possible? That's the question astronomers are trying to figure out. In the 2030's, scientists are planning to go to Mars. There are lot of problems, and less solutions. A botanist says that it is possible to grow potatoes in the Martian soil. That's your food, potatoes 24/7. When astronomers go to space, they usually go to the ISS (International Space Station) where they do research and conduct experiments. In the ISS, you could grow vegetables. It would take about 2 months to get to Mars. Mars doen't have a lot of O2 (Oxygen) either. Instead, it has more than 90% carbon dioxide in its atmosphere (CO2).

The Maya Underworld is the largest submerged cave. In Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula, a diver swam a 1/2 meter by 1 meter passageway and found himself in the Maya Underworld. He found a connection point between the Sac Actun cave system and the Dos Ojos system. That means, the two caves were actually one cave, the Maya Underworld. Together, they form the longest underwater cave system in the world, at 216 miles (347 kilometers). Scientists think it was formed 15,000 years before the colonial times.

I read the Mayan Underworld story. I learned many things but also have a few questions. First, it all started with a diver near the Yucatan Peninsula who squeezed through a passageway barely large enough for a human. Since that finding, they have discovered many artifacts and biofacts that show signs of early life. However, they are still looking. They even found 13,000 year old remains of a teenage girl! However, it was from a much earlier era than the Maya. The place where they found this is the most famous site in the Sac Atcun system. After reading this article, I have a few questions. First, if they had never found this narrow passageway before, what made them find it now? Divers have been down near it already, was it a certain mission or destination that led them to find it? Second, they have found more than just Maya artifacts and biofacts, was the same land used more than once? Did the Maya people know that earlier eras had been there? People are now trying o protect the Sac Actun system, and I think t will be great because we may never find something like this ever again.

I think going to Mars is quite possible. The only problem is how long the trip is and how to survive on the Red Planet. I thought it was cool how they thought that planting food on the planet would help them survive. It was also cool when all they sent was a few things with lettuce seed and it said they grew! The article about Mars is pretty cool and interesting.

Planting vegetables on a different planet, in this cas mars may seem more than impossible. However somehow people think that it may work. If it does work it would provide huge benefits for us. First off astronauts can plant their own food on Mars beside bringing food from earth. Second of all plants help recycle air and water and that makes it better for life. If mars is better for life astronauts can stay longer. Lastly planting has pschyology benefits.

The 'Maya Under world' is an amazing discovery. It is the largest submerged cave in the world. it was found in 2012 by a Yucatan Peninsula who swam though a hole barely big enough to fit a human.

It’s interesting how they have been working in this trip for over 3 years now I wonder how long it will take
