What stood out to you? What surprised you?I Have a Dream" is a public speech that was delivered by American civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on August 28, 1963, in which he called for civil and economic rights and an end to racism in the United States. Delivered to over 250,000 civil rights supporters from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., the speech was a defining moment of the civil rights movement and among the most iconic speeches in American history.

The thing that stood out to me was that people joined in on the march in Washington. People knew that they had to change the law so that black people and white people's rights were equal. Not all white people loved segregation, in fact they to joined the march. What surprised me was that people from all different cultures and backgrounds joined and famous singers, actress, and even more famous people spoke. Dr. King's speech was the most powerful speech that affected many people at the march. What stood out to me was that years later we still talk about Dr. King's and others speeches. One part of his speech that affected me was Dr. King's speech about "white girls and boys holding hands with black girls and boys " What also stood out to me was when he said " I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
