I learned that the reason Frederick Douglass was considered a leader because he was when he was a slave and got punished just for learning to read. He also gave important speeches to abolitionists about slavery and even convinced the president Abraham Lincoln. Frederik Douglass is an amazing civil rights activist because he even wrote an autobiography about his life.

Douglass was a very smart man who knew what he was doing. He changed his last to secure his safety from going back to being a slave. He stood up for his rights and beliefs. Fredrick stood tall like a tree even when people were trying to cut him down.

Fredrick douglass was a leader because when he didn't know how to read somebody taught him . And he learned on his own by watching other people . When he finally learned how to read he taught others . Think about learning how to read for them was a huge deal for us its nothing to special . Plus we learn in kindergarten/ Preschool to actually read picture books . For these people it took years some probably never found out . In addition he is a leader because when he escaped he didn't just live a free happy lalala life . He managed his way to talk to obama and make slavery STOP. In conclusion frederick douglass is a true hero and somebody we will always remember .
