When an authors purpose is to persuade the author wants the audience to do something or think a certain way on a topic. When the authors purpose is to inform the author tells you information on a certain topic. When the authors purpose is to entertain the author makes you happy, sad, or makes you laugh. When the authors purpose is to share a personal experience the author is telling a story about something they've experienced and did.
