The lesson that this story is trying to teach me is that you can't get your hopes up but you also can't lose hope. Just go with the flow and everything will come out alright in the end. Everything that seems good can always go bad. Everything that seems bad can always become good.

I think this story is trying to tell us is that what ever we do now determines how our future is and how we are remembered.

This story is trying to teach us that life is a road ahead that has many turns. Bad things may happen and good things may happen in those turns. But life goes on. In the end all you have to do is enjoy it.

This tells me not to pout if something happens that you think is bad because it could turn out to be a good thing.

I think the story is trying to teach us that there are good parts and bad parts of life. At the end, you just have to enjoy life.

I believe that this story is trying to teach us is that life is a surprise. Sometimes you just don't know the answer so you have to say "maybe"

I think this is trying to teach me to don't be sad or happy about an outcome in life because you never know if it will turn out to be a good one.

I really like this story. I read it in Chinese School last year and really enjoyed it. I believe that for life to be fair, sometimes you need some bumps along the way. This story definitely represents the fact that, sometimes, misfortune can often lead to good surprises. After hearing this story for the second time, I realize this story also tells me that assumptions can be dangerous and inaccurate.

You never no if something bad is going to happen because of something else and you never no if something good is going to happen because of something else.

This story tells a lot of things. First, it told me that everything happens for a reason. Second, it told me that the past effects the present and the present effects the future. You will never know what life will bring you so don't lose hope... or get overwhelmed!

You never know what will be the consequences of the misfortune and that you may not be satisfied wth what it is now but you may be later

I think the lesson is that things may seem bad but they don't turn out so bad. Like when the farmers son broke his leg, then the next day conscription officers came around looking for soldiers an the farmers son was turned down because he leg was broken.

I think that the lesson this video is trying to teach is that you can never predict the future. For example in the video the Chinese farmers son broke his leg and the neighbors gathered around and said how sorry they are for the farmer and said that's to bad isn't it. The farmer replied "maybe". The next day the army came to look for soldiers but they rejected his son. Then his neighbors gathered around and said how great it is. This tells us that the even though everyone was saying how sad they are for the farmers son the farmer didn't know yet if it was a bad thing that's why he replied "maybe". It did turn out to be a good thing because the farmers son didn't have to go to war and risk his life. From then on when his neighbors asks him isn't this so bad or isn't this great he would say "maybe" because if you count on something bad happening something bad will happen and if you count on something good happening something good will happen. Believing in something makes a big difference.

Hi Mr. Meyer! I found out how to go back in time, because I commented on basically every video on our weebly page. I think the lesson is to never get yours hopes up or predict the future because the farmers son broke his leg, but it did turn out to be a tiny bit better because he didn't have to go to war and his risk his life. He replies with "maybe" because you cannot predict the future and he doesn't want to jinx or bring bad luck, he just goes what with life says.
